Security and Marketing – The Dual Purpose of ID Badge Lanyards

ID badge lanyards, or those ID holders you see strung around the necks of most employees and convention-goers, have probably more use than just to hold your identification badge in front of your chest. These days, you not only see lanyards in the office anymore. They have become something of a popular trend with different functions other than to keep your ID where you can see it.

Many companies have latched on to the idea of making more use out of their lanyards recently. There was a time before when identification cards were merely clipped to front pockets or dangling from a thin, nylon cord. Now, going to a business district lets you see people in their corporate attire wearing ID badge lanyards that tell you where they work.

The obvious benefit here is the establishment of the company’s identity, especially if the company has a distinct logo or color associated to it. McDonald’s, for instance, a global giant in the fast-food industry employs the colors red and yellow in their logo. If you showed anyone a swatch of the combination of these colors and asked them what company they immediately thought about afterwards, chances are high that they’ll say they thought about McDonald’s and its iconic golden arches. This particular trick may make potential customers think of visiting the restaurant later because of a simple psychological suggestion of seeing colors associated to the company–an effective marketing tool, as lanyards are worn pretty much everywhere, both in and out of the office or store.

Another advantage to the ID badge lanyard is its provided security, not only to the company but also to the people working for it. An employee is issued a unique lanyard upon acceptance into the company. This is to ensure that only official employees are granted access into the office and the operations in them–a necessary precaution to keep whatever sensitive information a company has inside the safety of the premises.

Some of these lanyards could be handed out as gifts to employees, customers, or clients. Not only will more people remember establishments, companies, or personalities this way, but there is also the possibility of leaving a lasting mental impression on people when they see items that remind them of you. Furthermore, when there are promotions or new products to be advertised, lanyards could come in handy.

In the world today, competition is fierce; it would do anyone a lot of good to remember to make the most out of the resources they have. The competition is not easy, but with the right mindset and resourcefulness, anyone or any group of people can overcome any challenges.
