Equations and Online Marketing by Edward Azorbo

The jungle of Online Marketing can be overwhelming by its very nature, what with the endless options and possibilities.

One of the themes that we talk about at Rebels is the idea that you shouldn’t be working on a thousand Online projects, but rather you should be working on creating systems and processes that generate sales.

Often when I got together with my colleagues during my trips to the US—where I met some brilliant minds in the field of Online Marketing—one of the questions that was asked in the group was what equation was working.

We knew that to help a colleague, all of our ideas had to be centered on an important point in order to get the best possible results.

Now if you’d like to have an idea of what’s going to help you to know what to focus on at any given time so that you don’t feel overwhelmed, let me share a tip with you.

The question is, “Where should we focus our efforts?” When I analyze the online business of a new client, I’m always looking for the equation that needs to be solved.

“What’s the equation here? Where is the point that, if we can get it to function, will open the gateway to success for us?”

It’s the point that, once resolved, launches us to the next level and generates a lot of sales.

I’m a fan of the theory of constraints; if you know the theory well, you’ll understand this idea.

Imagine that you have an online store and you’re not using Adwords and you depend completely on SEO for your traffic.

If we solve the “equation” of Adwords and we’re able to create campaigns with a positive ROI, we’ve jumped to the next level; we’ve created a new system of profitable traffic.

And even more importantly… We have a new source for acquiring clients to whom we can sell our other products at little or no cost in the following transactions.

Or, for example, let’s imagine that we only offer one product. If we solve the “equation” of offering another product after the first sale, we’ve increased our transaction size by x%.

With each equation that we solve, we climb to the next level and our business grows… This is the power of “equations.”

An Online Marketing professional should be focused on solving equations in order to constantly take the business to the next level to generate more sales.

An Online Marketing pro knows that focusing on getting a single thing to work well before going on to the next thing is more efficient than doing ten things poorly all at once.

An Online Marketing pro can’t be thinking about having a presence on social networks and tweeting all day. An Online Marketing pro should be focused on finding and solving equations.
