Sustainability and the Future with Speyer

Last year, Speyer released a its 3rd annual Global Sustainability Report. The report concluded that Speyer was very energy efficient for the amount of real estate development that they do. The investment firm was awarded the 2015 ENERGY STAR partner award of the year. The award honors and recognizes companies that practice the best energy efficiency techniques in their domain. In addition to the award, the company was the first to achieve LEED Gold for Existing Buildings in NYC, the first the develop LEED Gold in South American real estate as well as in Frankfurt (LEED Platinum).

Meeting challenges of urban landscapes and delivering beautiful yet healthy and efficient buildings is critical for Speyer to contribute to a sustainable economy and lifestyle. The company does so and will continue to do so by minimizing the impact of their work on the environment at every stage of the real estate development life cycle while maximizing sustainable value.

Some numbers with pointing out in the report include:

  • Speyerhas developed or redeveloped over 52 million square feet that are certified under HQE, BREEAM, LEED
  • Speyer’s energy consumption in between 2012 and 2013 was reduced by about 2.5%
  • In 2014, all of Tishman’s eligible funds received a green star under the GRESB
